This library has a prestigious
collection of 39,800 volumes of books covering various disciplines,
125 journals and magazines and 300 back volumes. These collections
are arranged properly by using Dewey Decimal Classification
scheme.
The Library constitutes
five major sections :
General section:-
This section provides access to all the members (students,
teachers, non - teaching staff and retired staff) of the
library. This also includes collections from book bank section,
which is established in 1975 with the help of U G C to assist
financially weak students.
Post Graduate section:-
Access to the collection of this section is limited
only for the PG students and teachers of the College. They
can freely select and use the books and also adequate facilities
are provided for the issue and return of books.
Reference section:-
The documents which are available in this section is meant
for reference only. No books are lend out from this section.
One library assistant is appointed to assist the users in
this section. This includes world-renowned encyclopedias,
dictionaries, atlases, almanacs and rare books of various
disciplines etc..
Research Section: -
Access to this section is limited only to the research
scholars. They can use bound journals to prepare research
papers, by making retrospective searches.
Periodical section:-
Current as well as back volumes of newspapers,
magazines and periodicals are available in this section.
Readers have open access to these materials for reading
and reference only. We have at our disposal fifteen dailies
in Malayalam and English. We have been preserving back issues
of important dailies. Popular magazines are kept in the
general section and subject journals in the reference hall.
Library provides a large number
of services to its community such as circulation of books,
newspaper clippings, photocopying services, printing facility,
information display,display of new arrivals, Inter-Library
Loan etc.
Library is fully computerized
by using a standard software SOUL (Software for University
Libraries) and all the computers are networked All books
are bar-coded for easy transaction. Internet facilities
are also available in the library and are open to all the
members of the library. Users are keeping up to date by
using available online journals in their area of interest.
In order to meet the challenging global requirements in
the field of Information technology, the library is planning
to subscribe more online journals in various disciplines,
international journals, Digitalization of Archival Collections
using D-Space software, introduction of complete open access
system for all members and special attention for physically
handicapped students by providing learning resources.
LIBRARY RULES

Perfect silence should
be maintained in the library complex.

Students have to keep their
personal belongings in the place provided for it.

Students should submit
their identity cards before entering the Library.

They have to observe the
rules, directions etc., strictly inside the Library.

If a book or periodical
is not returned in good condition, in due date stamped,
fine will be charged as per Government Rules.

Those who require clearance
certificate from the Library have to submit their library
card strictly.
