| “Encon Club” (Energy Conservation
Club) aims at practicing energy conservation and environmental
protection measures and encouraging youth to convert ideas
of conservation in to practice. ENCON of the College started
with 25 students of our College who are interested in
these activities. Each year new members will be inducted into
the club. ENCON observes oil and gas conservation fortnight
from 15-31 January each year. Members display banners and
posters in the campus during the fortnight. An awareness class
was also conducted for the club members. Essay competitions
were conducted based on energy conservation.
The activities of the ENCON -(2008-2009) was formally
inaugurated by Mr.A Santhoskumar, the editor of energy
conservation society of Kerala(ECS). The inaugural session
was followed by seminar and group discussion on " Household
EnergySaving Tips". In connection with Oil and Gass
Conservation Fortnight (ODCF) celebrations of Union
Petroleum Ministry the Encon club displayed banners and
cartoons and distributed brochures on energy saving methods
in the college premises which generated a positive response
among the academic community. Club in association with BPCL
Kochi Refineries, organized energy conservation Quiz for the
students of the college and cash prizes were given to the
winners. As an attempt to extend its activities beyond the
campus the club conducted intercollegiate and inter school
Quiz competitions (ECO - 08) with the help of Petr4oleum
Conservation and Research Association ( PCRA) and ECS. Eight
teams from different parts of Ernakulam district
participated. |
