A very responsible and women-friendly, women’s Association
(“UNARVU”)
is functioning in the College. Women students and lady teachers
can enroll themselves as members of the forum and from among
them, a committee is elected every year to guide the programmes.
Its mission is to generate awareness among students about
the right & responsibilities of women in the society.
It aims at a healthy and happy-campus where women are not
denied of their rights. Keeping this in view, quite a good
number of programmes have been arranged in the campus under
its guidance.
During last academic year the
Association invited Dr. Neena Joseph Director, Institute
of Management in Government to deliver a talk on another
relevant topic ‘Empowerment of women’, followed
by a successful interactive session. Receiving abundant
co-operation from the girl students the Association arranged
an ‘Onam fair’. Thus the College got a taste
of the entrepreneurial skills of the girls. In order to
make the girl students self reliant & independent the
Association took initiative to start a two wheeler driving
class. The response from the girls was mind-blowing. The
Tailoring & Handicraft unit functioned in full swing
in the last academic year. Many students have so far made
use of this facility. A seminar on “Women in media”
has been planned for the month of June. In addition to tailoring
& driving classes, the Association also plans to conduct
cooking classes for interested students. A self defense
class for girl students is also being planned.
