MG University and Government of Kerala have prescribed norms for admission which is strictly followed in admitting students to various courses. 80% of the students are admitted on merit basis for all aided courses. Rest 20% is management quota to which admission is the discretion of the management. Of the 80% merit seats 50% is open quota, 20% of students are selected on reservation cum merit basis from SC/ST and 10 percent on merit basis from Orthodox Community.

Special quotas are fixed for disadvantaged community, physically challenged students, athletes and sports persons as per government norms. Economically weaker sections of the society are provided with fee concession under K.P.C.R. Hostel facilities are provided to women students, if they require. Athletes and post graduate students are also provided with hostel facilities. The demand ratio of the UG courses is above five times of the sanctioned strength. It is above ten times for PG courses.
