BRIEF HISTORY
The Department of Physical
Education has a history which goes back from the very beginning
of the college. The purpose of Physical Education imparted
in the college is to make the students, the experience the
range of physical activities such as teams, individuals,
competitive and non competitive sports etc. Among this objective,
the college has created entire infrastructure such as multipurpose
indoor stadium, play ground, courts etc.
The college aims to give an opportunity for every student
to participate in various activities on a regular basis,
to improve leadership, self discipline and healthy habits
and receive valuable benefits of sports.
In 1964, when the college came under the control of the
government and university, the program under physical education
became syllabi.

PROGRAMMES OFFERED
The activities of the Department
start from the very beginning of the academic year. The
facilities are provided by the management, university, district
and state sports council.
The college has been a venue for conducting M.G. University
intercollegiate and interzone tournament in Badminton, Baseball,
Cricket, Softball Volleyball, Cross country, Table Tennis
and Football.
'Synthite Cup Volley Ball' tournament also conducted in
the indoor stadium. Intramural matches and Annual Athletic
meet is conducted every year in February. The Department
also organize sports competitions for the staff every year
in connection with the staff day celebrations.

ACTIVITIES
Training programs:
Training is imparted to all students, due to innate ability,
divided in to different game, both theory and practical.
The students of nearby schools are also permitted to use
the facilities available in the college ground. Friendly
matches are arranged with the teams of nearby clubs or schools.
Regularly practice session are held in Badminton, Baseball,
Cricket, Foot ball, Softball and Volleyball.
Achievements :
2008-2009
The department have eight
inter-university players and six state players in
different field of sports. Main activities during the
academic year include conducting coaching camps for
university teams, conducting Intramural Sports & games
competition on House basis, conducting coaching camps for
softball and Baseball Men and Women) team and conducting
coaching camps for Volley ball men team. Achievements
includes (Best Physique Men - MGU First, Basenall Women -
MGU Third, Baseball Men- State First, Softball Men-State
First, Softball Women- MGU first, Cricket women-State
first). Department has organised Softball coaching
camps for boys and girls of St.Perter's Higher Secondary
School, Kolenchery. Department has organised P.M.Paily
Pillai Memorial Basket ball Championship for women.
Organized senior state Baseball tournament for men and
women.
2007-2008
Department organised the
M.G.University Softball(Men and Women) and Cricket(Men)
Championship. Four students represented the M.g.University
Softball team for the InterVarsity Champtioinship. Two
Students represented Ernakulam district team.
2006 - 2007
Women's softball team secured
second position at the M.G. University softball championship
held at Marthoma college, Thiruvalla. Jincy Kuriakose, Sree
Durga.M.B, Jisha Mol.N.A and Shahanas M.K. represented M.G
University women's softball team for the All India
interuniversity softball Championship. Aneesh T.Joseph,
Deego.S, Chaithanyan C and Basil Jose represented the M.G.University
for interuniversity softball championship. Our college successfully
organised men and women intercollegiate baseball championship
from 6th to 8th February 2007. Girls team bagged the first
position in this tournament. Members of our softball team
(both male and female) were selected to M.G University
team to participate in the All India Interuniversity championships.
Cricket team of our college reached quarterfinals of the
M.G.University intercollegiate championship .
2005 - 2006
First place in University Base ball (Men and Women), second
place in University Soft ball (Men and Women), third place
in University Volley ball (Men) and Women ; College won
second position in 'All Kerala Softball Competition' conducted
by Sports Council. 10 Men and 10 Women got selected in various
University and State teams participated in All India competitions.
2004 - 2005
In the University first place for Soft ball (women), second
place for Soft ball (men), third place for Volley ball (men)
and third place for cricket (men). 6 women and 6 men got
selection in various state and university teams and participated
in All India Competitions.6 Women and 4 Men got first place
in All India Interuniversity Softball Competition.
2003 - 2004
First place in University, Soft ball championship for women,
third place in Volley ball for men and second place in All
Kerala Berthaloma Volley Ball for men. 5 Women and 5 Men
got selection in different state and University teams.
2002 - 2003
Second place in University for Women's Soft ball championship.
4 Men and 4 Women got selection in University teams for
Soft ball.
2001 - 2002
Both Men's and Women's team secured first place in Kerala
State Soft ball championship, second place in University
power lifting for Men and third place for University Ball
Badminton for Women.
5 Men and 3 Women got selection in various teams.
