National Service Scheme

National Service Scheme is a Central Government Educational Programme started in the year 1969. It is functioning under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at the national level and under the Ministry of Higher Education at the State level.

The Major aim of the National Service Scheme is the development of the personality of students through community service. It provides an extension dimension to the higher education system and orients the student youth to community service while they study in an educational institution as envisaged by Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Acharya’ of the National Service Scheme.

There are two units with 100 volunteers in each unit, functioning in the college. Volunteers are enrolled from the first and second year degree students. A student volunteer who has completed 240 Hrs of work, and attended a special camp during the course of two years, is eligible for N.S.S. certificate from the Mahatma Gandhi University. This certificate gives weightage to higher studies, and is an additional qualification for appointment in public service.
