Department of English

The Department of English has been with St. Peter’s College since its inception in 1964. It has a dedicated team of teachers who deliver undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in English Language and Literature renowned for maintaining high standards of academic excellence. The learning strategies adopted include the best of traditional and modern techniques including both offline and online lectures, multimedia technologies, workshops, seminars, group discussions, field visits and projects.

The Department offers BA (Honours), MA and Ph.D. Through the courses offered, our students get an exposure to how writers and thinkers from across the world and cultures have used various genres of literary expressions to represent the real and the imaginary. The study of English opens up a world of opportunities for them in the country and abroad, side by side with the infusion of principles and ideas of the literary art. They acquire a plethora of skills in textual analysis, critical thinking and creative expression. It empowers them to apply the knowledge gained and skills acquired in a wide variety of professional situations.
