Department of Physical Education

Physical education for the body to be effective must be rigorous and detailed, far sighted andmethodological. This will be translated into habits. These habits should be controlled and disciplined,while remaining flexible enough to adapt themselves to circumstances and to the needs of growthand development of the being. - Sri Aurobindo

Physical education department deals with and focuses on developing physical fitness and the abilityto perform and enjoy day-to-day physical activities with ease. Physical education department isresponsible for all aspects of the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning andteaching programs across the three strands of PE including, skills development, health, and personaldevelopment for every student joining the programme in our college. The objectives of physicaleducation department are Physical Development, Social Development, Emotional Development,Mental Development. Physical activity enhances an individual's ability to think, concentrate, & focusand is important for healthy growth & development. It also prevents sleep deprivation and helpsrelieve stress and anxiety.

The Department was established in 1964. The college started a one of its kind Volleyball (Men)sports hostel in 2010 with the assistance of Sports council, followed by Basketball (Men) sportshostel in 2013 with the assistance of Sports council. An Athletics (Men & Women) sports hostel in2015 with the assistance of Sports council.
